Recording 2010 Tour CD

The band has been in the recording studio again over the past month, this time recording a CD to be released for our tour of the USA Western Territory, which takes place over Easter 2010. It is always a thrill and privilege to prepare music in this way, and to consider the many thousands of Salvationists and others who will hear our Message on such a trip, and to enhance that by leaving behind a permanent reminder of why we visited them.
Music featured on this CD is largely representative of the new music we continue to receive on a regular basis, much of which comes from our younger composers, and includes the March 'South Shields Celebration', Paul Sharman's 'Purpose', Derick Kane as soloist in 'Canaan’s Land', Ken Downie's beautiful arrangement 'The Joy Of Loving Hearts', and Stephen Ponsford's 'Turris Fortissima'. A soprano cornet solo 'The Higher Plane', and the trombone quartet 'There is a Redeemer' are also scheduled for inclusion.

As with the 1930's Heritage recording released earlier in the year, we utilised the rehearsal room of the Band of the Coldstream Guards at Wellington Barracks, in central London for this recording.
We are grateful to the Senior Director of Music, Household Division, Lieutenant Colonel Graham Jones, for the use of the space, which is a contrast to the wide-open space of the Henry Wood Hall, and provides a more definitive sound with which our trusted engineer Brian Hillson and his team at World of Sound can weave their magic!
We look forward to hearing the completed CD, and to planning the next one in the heritage series.
