ISB to Celebrate 120th Anniversary
The International Staff Band of The Salvation Army (ISB) have announced plans to celebrate their 120th Anniversary in 2011 with an International Brass weekend, the focal point of which will be in the Royal Albert Hall, featuring Staff Bands from around the Salvation Army world.
Speaking on behalf of the ISB, Bandmaster (Dr) Stephen Cobb stated that although plans were at an early stage, the Royal Albert Hall event was likely to feature the largest gathering of Staff Bands ever seen, from as far afield as North America, Australia and Japan, in addition to Staff Bands from within Europe. ‘This is likely to be a once in a lifetime experience’, claimed Dr Cobb, ‘and we anticipate drawing an audience from all over the world’. Other ‘fringe’ events during the weekend are likely to be held in Regent Hall (Oxford Street) and Westminster Central Hall.
These celebration events are planned for the weekend of 3-5 June 2011, further details regarding concerts and ticket availability being publicised soon.
