Gavin Lamplough

Gavin joined the ISB in September 2012 having deputised with the band on several occasions.

He grew up in the Potteries at the Chesterton Corps, until moving away to study Music.  Gavin's formal music study gained him a BMus (Hons) performance degree on the Trumpet.

Stephen Cobb

Dr. Stephen Cobb became Bandmaster of The International Staff Band in 1994. In that position he has ably followed some of The Salvation Army’s most famous conductors. Stephen’s initial reputation was secured as a cornet soloist, both at Hendon and within The International Staff Band serving as principal for many years.

Carl Nielsen

Carl joined the ISB in 2008 and became principal cornet of the Band in January 2013.

He has been a member of the Croydon Citadel Band since 1987, being principal cornet for the most of that time. He has also served as Deputy Bandmaster and YP Band Leader at the corps.

Carl studied trumpet at the Royal Academy of Music with the late James Watson, during which time he became an Associate of the Royal College of Music (Hons).

Steve Hanover

Steve, joining the ISB in 1991, was on the Solo horn section for 21 years, and now occupies the First Horn chair.

His profession is as a UK Sales Director for a lighting management company.

Steve has been at The Regent Hall corps since 1985 and has been Bandmaster since 1994. Previous to that he was Young Peoples Bandleader at Regent Hall.

Carl Woodman

Carl is a long serving member of the ISB Eb tuba section, having played in the band since 1993, and has played under Bandmasters Redhead & Cobb. His first engagement with the band was the occasion of Hendon Highlights with guests David king, and Judith Howarth.

His formal musical training took place at Kingston University.

Carl, the son of S.A. officers, has been at Chatham since 2000. Carl has held leadership roles at Hanwell (Bandleader), and Chatham (Bandmaster – for 7 years).

He is currently part of an ISB Eb duo together since 1993.

Iain Parkhouse

Iain began his ISB career in 2003, and is a member of the Croydon Citadel corps.

He is currently in his second stint as Bandmaster (10 years), having previously led the band for 3 years. Iain is the son of Salvation Army officers and has been at Croydon Citadel since 1982.

He is currently working as a financial advisor, but previously was a musician in the Coldstream Guards for 9 years with the rank of Lance Corporal.

Iain is the ISB’s principal Baritone player.
